Coles Flybuys vs Woolworths Everyday Rewards: Which One Saves You More?

Both programs are free to join and both promise to reward your loyalty. But the mechanics are very different — and one is likely a better fit for how your household shops.

Australia's two biggest supermarket loyalty programs have a combined membership in the tens of millions. Most Australian households have at least one — and some have both. But which actually saves you more money?

We've broken down both programs across the metrics that matter for grocery shoppers.

How Each Program Works

Woolworths Everyday Rewards

  • Earn 1 point per $1 spent at Woolworths, BWS, and partners
  • 2,000 points = $10 Woolworths voucher (~0.5% return)
  • Weekly personalised bonus offers activated via app
  • Member Prices (orange labels) at Woolworths and BWS

Coles Flybuys

  • Earn 1 point per $1 spent at Coles, Liquorland, and partners
  • 2,000 points = $10 Flybuys voucher (~0.5% return)
  • Weekly bonus offers via app and email
  • Flybuys Dollars: some offers convert directly to dollars, not points

On paper, the base earn rate is identical. The programs diverge in their bonus structures and partner ecosystems.

Bonus Offers: The Main Event

Both programs live or die on their bonus offers — personalised deals that can multiply your points significantly. The quality and relevance of these offers varies by shopper.

Everyday Rewards tends to send more frequent, smaller offers. You might activate 8–12 offers per week, each giving 200–500 bonus points on specific products.

Flybuys tends to send fewer but larger offers. A typical week might have 4–6 offers, but some convert directly to Flybuys Dollars (not points) — meaning instant credit, not accumulated points.

Winner: Draw. The value depends entirely on how well the offers match your shopping habits. Many shoppers find one program's algorithm matches their basket better than the other. Try both for a month and compare.

Member Pricing

Everyday Rewards has built out Member Prices across hundreds of products — a persistent, always-on discount for cardholders. This is increasingly a core part of Woolworths' pricing strategy.

Flybuys has a smaller set of Flybuys Member Exclusives but has been expanding them. Coles also runs "Flybuys Boost" which accelerates point earning on specific items.

Winner: Everyday Rewards — currently has more member-priced products and the discount is more consistent.

Partner Ecosystems

Everyday Rewards partners: BIG W, Everyday Insurance, Everyday Mobile, linked fuel discounts, selected Ampol stations.

Flybuys partners: Kmart, Target, Liquorland, Budget car hire, Virgin Australia (points transfer), linked fuel discounts via Shell/Coles Express.

The Flybuys-Virgin Australia link is a sleeper benefit for frequent flyers — Flybuys points can be converted to Velocity points at roughly 2 Flybuys = 1 Velocity. If you fly Virgin with any frequency, Flybuys becomes significantly more valuable.

Paid Tiers

Everyday Extra ($7/month): 10% off two shops per month, bonus points, free delivery credit. Worth it for households spending $400+/month at Woolworths.

Flybuys has no paid tier. All benefits are available for free.

Winner: Flybuys for simplicity. Everyday Extra can be better value for high-spend Woolworths shoppers, but requires active management to extract the value.

Choose Everyday Rewards if you're a loyal Woolworths shopper who will actively work the bonus offer system and potentially subscribe to Everyday Extra.

Choose Flybuys if you shop at Coles regularly, use Kmart or Target, or fly Virgin Australia.

Do both if you split your shop across both chains — the programs are free, and there's no reason not to collect points from both.
